Our Story
How We Started
PROCLAMATION
Angel Parets has been a pillar of the Miami Beach business community,
serving as the owner and operator of Costa De Oro Jewelry & Pawn Shop,
which at 47 years, is the longest pawn shop in Miami Beach, maintaining an
iconic presence on Washington Ave;
and Costa De Oro Jewelry & Pawn Shop is not only a small business, but a trusted institution for generations of Miami Beach residents and visitors, known for its integrity, warmth, and deep connection to the community;
and Angel Parets continued a family legacy rooted in resilience and achievement, as his family has proudly called Miami Beach home since their arrival from Cuba in 1965. His mother, Blanca Parets, was a trailblazing figure in the financial sector of the city, and remains remembered as one of the most influential Hispanic bankers on the Beach, contributing to the cultural and economic fabric of the city;
and Angel Parets is widely regarded as a highly knowledgeable, personable,
and generous individual, whose character, professionalism, and family
values have endeared him to all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. As the Parets chapter of Costa De Oro Jewelry & Pawn Shop comes to a close with its recent sale, The City of Miami Beach wishes to recognize and celebrate the legacy of Angel Parets and his family for their decades of service, excellence, and dedication to our community.
NOW THEREFORE, DO WE, as Mayor and Commissioners of the City of Miami Beach, hereby proclaim June 18th, 2025, as ANGEL PARETS DAY
in the City of Miami Beach.
Mayor Steven Meiner, January 2026
